Vacation
Starting Thanksgiving thru Sunday, I will be up in the mountains around Los Angeles. My family owns a cabin in
Crestline, so we will be going up for a four day vacation. We usually go up every few months, but this year we have not been up since New Years Day, so it’s been a lot of stress building up. When I come back, I usually can write like there’s no tomorrow. Plus, I usually write quite a bit while up there.
So, till Sunday!

That’s no Moon! It’s a Space Station (sort of)!
When I was a kid, I was really into everything astronomy. Over time, I lost that fire within me, but tonight, something resparked that.
Comet 17/P Holmes.
I was browsing wikipedia for info for a paper I’m writing tomorrow, and I spotted an article on the comet and upon reading “visible to the naked eye”, I ran out with a pair of binoculars. Looking into the low Northeast sky, I found it after ten or so minutes of searching. I dragged my parents out, and both found it immediately within the binoculars.
Then, I decided to take my PD-150 (a professional level miniDV camera) out and take a few snap shots. I ended up taking video since the shutter speed was super low (1/4th of a second, the photo mode only went as low as 1/60th of a second) and captured the photos from frames in the video.
So, ladies and gentleman, here’s one of the photos I took:
17/P Holmes can be viewed anywhere in the world.
More info can be found by clicking here.
Happy viewing.
